PLAN!T NOW Dreamkeepers

Floridians don't have to be told about the dangers hurricanes bring. They've lived them. That's one reason PLAN!T NOW's (P!N) decision to launch its P!N Dreamkeepers scholarships in the Miami-Dade area makes perfect sense and can have a lasting impact.

P!N's Dreamkeepers scholarship will impact Miami Dade College students by offering them financial assistance to complete their education. The scholarship will be offered each year to students at the school, one of the most diverse in the nation, who hope to better prepare their communities for the challenges of living in a storm zone.

The scholarship will be expanded next year to benefit students in both the Miami and Galveston, Tex. areas, as they have been exposed to major storms that have a significant impact on all residents.

P!N Dreamkeepers is a partnership between P!N and Scholarship America. The program is part of P!N's Hurricane Relief Scholarship (P!N HRS) Program expansion, furthering P!N HRS by extending tuition aid to students in community colleges or studying weather and hazard sciences that will advance preparedness work in their communities.

Many of these students have faced severe storms in their lifetime and live in a community likely to face many more. Through your donation, you can help empower these students with the gift of knowledge, creating a better future for them, their families and their communities.

Aid is needed for community college students more than other post-secondary students. Retention rates for community college students year-to-year can be affected by several variables, and the threat that storms bring to their lives can act as an enormous barrier to continuing education. Dreamkeepers scholarship have been proven to increase the retention rate among these students, furthering their chances of success and being able to have a greater impact on those around them.

Thus, P!N Dreamkeepers grants can help families and individuals prepare for a better, safer future. Please give now and help these students lead the way toward better technology and preparedness for those most at risk of severe storms.
